Gaa Club Notes

An under strength minor team lost to Carrick Davins in the opening game of the championship. Davins had a lot to spare at the finish and it must be said some basic errors throughout the field caused quite a few scores which in fairness to Davin’s were clinically dispatched.

But that does not do justice to Clerihans fighting spirit and they never gave up right up to the end.

Special mention the younger players making their minor debuts they put in tremendous shifts and if we can get some of the older players back we still could have a say in the championship. scorers on the day were Sean Hahessey 1 goal 2 pts . Conor Clancy 1pt. Shane Power 1pt. Rhys McMurrow. 1pt Rory Maher 1pt and

James Maher 1 goal also unlucky with 2 more efforts. Best wishes to Jake Hickey who sustained a broken arm during the game and James Maher who picked up a nasty hand Injury. Next game against Ballylooby Sunday next 12 noon Ardfinnan.

A scorching Monday evening saw our under 12 boys deplete the advances of the away team Kilenaule who put in a great effort but were easily beaten in the end. Our boys are going from strength to strength and hopefully they can keep it up for the season.

Our under 12 girls put in a great performance in the go games blitz in Newtownshandrum on Saturday. We played four games, winning three of them and narrowly losing the fourth game. Well done girls.

We want to thank everyone who put in the effort to make the trip down there.

A.G.M. of Clerihan Community Council

The A.G.M. of Clerihan Community Council will be held on Monday, March 26, at 8 p.m. The Community Council has performed a very valuable service to Clerihan over the last ten years; our Community Park is one obvious example of the fruit of their tireless work for the community.

At this stage we feel that we need some new people with fresh ideas and enthusiasm to come forward to help our community. We would hope to continue the work of the Community Council and look towards new projects like the provision of a playground in the Community Park. These things don’t happen by themselves and we need new people to help Clerihan become a great place to live.

It is hoped that those who benefit from the efforts of the Community Council will come along to support us.

Community Games County Final in Art

The Community Games Art final was held in St Mary’s Presentation Secondary School on Saturday March 10th.

We had two winners on the day. Emma Wrobloski came 1st in U14 girls and will represent Clerihan in the National final in Athlone. Well done to Heather Barnett who came second in the U12 girls. All our participants represented Clerihan with pride.
