U11 girls great win over Fethard.

The U11 girls played Fethard in the community field yesterday and had a great win, must be the lucky new jerseys.
We have our eye on  Semple Stadium for the final on the June Bank Holiday Monday so keep up the great work girls and you’ll go all the way.

Well done to Paddy, Ed, and John for the work they put in. Don’t forget to come and cheer them on in their next challenge.

Clerihan Gaa Notes

Clerihan are holding their annual field day on Sunday the 13th May in our field and there will be something for everybody , the cost is five euro per family which is great value , we have  a kiddies disco, pony rides , underage football blitz, skittles, wellly throwing contest , long puck and much much more.

Kick off is at 1.30 so come early to avoid disappointment and support your local club.

Final registration for the ladies football club is now due and must be paid before May 15th to ensure the teams can play in the championship , payment can be made to any of the club officers.

Our under 14 squad played a home game against Commercials Sunday  last  in what can only be described as dreadful conditions , the first half favoured Clerihan with goals from Hollie Corcoran  and Eileen Flannery but the lead was not to last long as Commercials proved the stronger side in the second half and went on to win , well done to all our girls who put in a great performance and Catriona Rice who also scored a goal in the second half, next game is against Ballyporeen on Monday the 7th May at 6.30pm. Come and give all the support you can.

Our under 12s and U16s have reach the semi-finals stages of their respective competition. The U12s went unbeaten in their group after six games while the U16s qualified from a tough group with four wins from six outings.

The U16s had the narrowest defeat at home to Davins on Tuesday night last and had to travel to Clonmel og the following Friday when only a win would do to take them to the semi-final. The boys were hurt and sore after the Davins snatch victory at the death and to have an away game to get the points to assure a place in semi was not going to be easy. They got their just reward with a four point win and all the hard work since January paid off.

We don’t know the dates for the semi-finals just yet but we believe the u12 game will take place on Monday next. A lot of work have gone into preparing these teams by their respective Managers and we would encourage both parents and club members to come out and support  the teams in the semi-finals and hopefully we can reach the finals.

Clerihan Community Play Park

A committee has recently been formed with the aim of securing a play park for our children here in Clerihan. A site has been chosen between the all weather pitch and the walking track and we are very excited about the project!

As this park will be for the children we would love to get them involved in the planning of the project. We would love to hear their opinions and get their ideas on how they like to play and what they would like to see in the park.

Representatives from the committee have met with all the children in the schools this week to ask them to give us their ideas. We will then pass their ideas on to the play park planners and see if we can incorporate in as many of their ideas as possible. So please keep an eye out for the notice in the school bags this week! We would hope that the children could return their ideas to the ideas box in the school by the end of the week.

We hope that the whole community will roll in behind the project to make it a play park for the people by the people.

If you would like to support us and keep up to date on the development of the park please log onto our facebook page at Clerihan Community Play Park and select the ‘like’ button.
