Clerihan U14 girls V Fethard

A blustery Tuesday evening saw Clerihan take on the visitors Fethard in what can be described as tough playing conditions,  with strong cross winds , hail stones and rain. It was great to see both teams put in such a good effort . Clerihan started with great determination and a super goal from Ciara Laste put them ahead. This was followed up with a second goal from Eileen Flannery and Clerihan sailed ahead.

They began to lose concentration just before half time and Fethard sneaked a goal putting the half time score at 2-1 to Clerihan. Fethard came out in the second half and quickly equalled the score.

The hard working  Eileen Flannery secured her second goal of the day  putting the home side back in front. Conditions began to deteriorate and both teams fought on bravely and Fethard snatched a third just before the final whistle putting the full time score at 3 goals each. Well done to all the girls considering the weather they endured and keep up the good work.

Clerihan U16’s V Moyle Rovers

Clerihan U16’s V Moyle Rovers

We played Moyle Rovers in the third round of the championship in Monroe Park on Thursday night last, We got off to a great start with a goal from James Maher and a well taken point from Rhys McMorrow in the first five minutes.

Clerihan started to dominate in most areas of the field and used the ball cleverly. Joe Ryan scored our second goal and points from Danny Hogan, Rory Maher, and Sean Hahessy had us well in command heading for the break. Moyle rovers opened their account with a well take point and followed it up with a great goal to stay in contention, Just before the break Andrew O Regan bagged our third goal to leave the score 3-4 to 1-1 at half time.

We started the second half where we left off with two brilliant points from Rory Maher and one from Rhys McMorrow. Matthew Ryan replaced Joe Ryan and was quick to make his mark with a point from close range. From the kick out Moyle Rovers move the ball quickly up the field and Clerihan backs got caught off their guard and Rovers netted their second goal. Again Clerihan responded well with a second point from Danny Hogan and a goal from the hard working Arron Lawrence. The home side scored a consolation goal but this was cancelled out with our fifth goal from Luke Hyland.

As a team we worked very hard but it goes without saying some worked harder than others, while our forwards clocked up a nice score our defenders were very busy. Andrew O Donnell, Adam Fahy and Sean Hahessy who played very well. This was a great results over a great Club like Moyle Rovers and we will cherish a victory any time we meet.

Well done to all who took part but remember lads we have nothing won yet.

Clerihan U12 v Grangemockler

Clerihan U12 v Grangemockler

Clerihan U12’s entertained Grangemockler on Good Friday evening. In a high scoring game the home team had the best of the early exchanges. Despite this only two points separated the sides at half-time with Clerihan leading 0-9 to 2-1. Clerihan found it hard to pull away from the a very strong Grangemockler team but eventually pulled away to win 3-14 to 4-2.

Cian Mullane scored 2-8, Jack O Rourke 1-0, Liam McGrath 0-4 and Rian Quigley all scored for Clerihan. Callumn Maher in the backs also featured well. Thanks to a gallant Grangemockler team who contributed to a very good game of football. Well done to the selectors and to all the players on the u12 panel who now have a one hundred percent record.
